Mary Esther (Rich) Staven, 78, of Superior passed away Jan. 13, 2009. She will be reunited with the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Floyd Staven.
She was a wife, sister, Godmother, aunt and friend. Mary personally cared for many family members, giving them a place to visit or stay, and always providing a home-cooked meal and conversation.
Mary was born in Spooner to Valora and Clarence Rich on March 18, 1930.
Many people know her from her work at Kresge's and cooking for head start and day care programs in Superior.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Mary is survived by sisters: Arlene (J. Leon) Andrews of Grand Rapids, Mich., Connie (Marvin) Staven of Racine, Wis., Kathleen (Edward) Katzmark of Superior and brothers Gary (Susan) Rich of Hermantown and Robert (Debbie) Rich of Superior, several Godchildren and many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Juel Staven; and sister-in-law Kay Staven. She was preceded in death by brother Eugene "Geno" Rich, sister Joyce McClary, three infant sisters and one infant brother.
A memorial service to be held this spring with a date to be announced later.
Donations in Mary Staven's honor should be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Superior.
