Lew Martin, a longtime media personality in Superior, was honored for his longevity last week.

The Superior Elks Lodge honored Martin for his 62-year membership in the organization. During his tenure with the Elks, he served as the exalted ruler and district deputy for the State of Wisconsin. He has supported patriotic, youth and veterans activities.

Martin joined the Elks at the request of his former boss and owner of WDSM, James Conroy, when he was just getting started in radio.

Martin went on to have a long career in Twin Ports media. He has covered many historic Twin Port events everything from the historic Dionne Quintuplets' first trip out of Canada to launch five new warships from the Butler Shipyard in Superior, the campaign visit of the John F. Kennedy family and the Harry Truman trip from Spooner to Superior.
