Margaret "Maggie" Staupe, 91, formerly of Superior and Tucson, Ariz., passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the September House in Duluth, where she resided.

Maggie was born March 3, 1916, in Superior and resided here most of her life. She was a dental assistant and later a homemaker. Maggie will always be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Maggie was a little spitfire!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton W. Staupe; her parents, George and Bessie Campbell; brother, George Jr.; sister, Dorothy Bodway; brother-in-law, Jim Olson; and all of her husband's siblings and their spouses. Maggie was the last surviving family member of that wonderful generation of Staupes.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Gary Brown) Schuman of Superior and son, Michael (Marie) Staupe and their children of Ogelthorpe, Ga.; grandson, Les (Rachael) Schuman; great-grandchildren, Jake, Felicia, Taylor and Nick; sister, Helen Olson of Mountainhome, Idaho; brother-in-law, Marshall Bodway of Tucson; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to St. Luke's Hospice and the entire staff of the September House for the compassion and love they have shown during this difficult time and for their wonderful care.
