A Superior man faces charges in connection with the sexual assault of his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter.
Alexander Joseph Pittman, 34, is charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault of a child younger than 13 for an assault that allegedly occurred earlier this month.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl reported the sexual assault to her school counselor, who in turn contacted police.
During an interview monitored by Superior police and the district attorney's office, the girl told a Child First interviewer she was assaulted in the early morning hours of Nov. 6.
The victim, who slept on a futon in the same room as her mother, said she heard Pittman climb out of her mother's bed. He then came to her bed and allegedly started to French kiss the 10-year-old.

The girl told the interviewer that the defendant pulled down her pajama bottoms and underwear and proceeded to touch her inappropriately.
The girl said she felt "not too well, did not like this and it hurt" the complaint states.
Pittman is slated for a preliminary hearing on the charge Nov. 21.
