HAYWARD (AP) -- Authorities in Sawyer County say a 53-year-old man has died after struggling in the water.
The Sawyer County Sheriff's Department says the man appears to have drowned. Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle says the man was boating with two others Saturday afternoon on Scott Lake when he decided to go swimming.
The man began struggling in the water, but Zeigle says the man's friends were unable to reach him because they were unfamiliar with the boat's operations.
Another boater was able to pull the man from the water.
Emergency officials transported the man to Hayward Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
