SUPERIOR — The Superior-Douglas County Family YMCA will open its doors to the community during Healthy Kids Day, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1.

The free event features fun, active play and educational activities for the whole family, including Kubb, a petting zoo, a smoothie bike, a crane, face painting, Zumbini, carnival games and more. Anyone can use the YMCA facilities for free during that time, including the swimming pool, walking track and gymnasium.

“At the Y, we believe in the potential of all children. Each day we work to help kids find that potential within themselves,” said Hannah Bourgault, marketing and community outreach coordinator for the YMCA. “Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event to kick off summer and remind us all how important it is for kids to stay active and enjoy themselves throughout the summer. We’re so happy to be putting on this event in person after two years of it being virtual, or non-existent.”
