SUPERIOR — A woman has died after being struck by an SUV on the 300 block of Belknap Street in late January.
According to a news release from the Superior Police Department, the pedestrian was struck by an SUV just after 8 p.m. Jan. 29. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the SUV spoke to officers at the scene and said they did not see her in the road, the release said. The driver fully cooperated with the investigation and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Superior police said they learned the female victim died Tuesday. Police did not release the name of the victim and cited Marsy's Law, which protects victims’ rights, as their reason.
The investigation is ongoing and once complete, reports will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney's Office to determine if criminal charges are warranted.
