Local districts share in state library aid

The state's 425 school districts are sharing an estimated $29 million in school library aid to buy materials. The aid comes from earnings from the Common School Fund, the state's oldest trust fund.

The state's 425 school districts are sharing an estimated $29 million in school library aid to buy materials. The aid comes from earnings from the Common School Fund, the state's oldest trust fund.

Superior School District received $136,200; Solon Springs $12,025; Northwood $11,910; and Maple $42,284 from the fund. Payments are based on the number of students payments this school year average $23.08 per student.

Library aid payments from the Common School Fund may be used for books, newspapers, periodicals, electronic, audiovisual and other media resources, and Wisconsin history resources from the State Historical Society.
