Another sex offender will be taking up residence in Superior next week. A community meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Government Building, 1416 N. 14th St. regarding the release of William Ramirez, 52.
Ramirez was convicted of first-degree sexual assault in 1988 and has been incarcerated since that time in the Wisconsin prison system. He will be released from custody on Tuesday, May 6 and moving to 1620 N. 16th St., according to a release from Deputy Chief Nick Alexander with the Superior Police Department. He will remain on supervision with the Department of Corrections until 2027.
Ramirez’ offense involved a repeated sexual assault against a female unknown to him. The assault involved the victim being threatened with a knife and occurred over a period of two and a half hours. Ramirez did not act alone in this assault. He and the co-defendant were arrested and convicted. Due to the nature of the offense, the Douglas County Sex Offender Notification Committee determined that a level III notification will be conducted highlighting the release of Ramirez into the community. In addition to the Thursday meeting, information will be mailed and fliers delivered door-to-door in the neighborhood.
Ramirez is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 270 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes. He will be moving to 1620 N. 16th St. in Superior. To report a rules violation or speak with the Department of Corrections, call probation and parole agent Meghan Pohmenr, 715-392-0812.
