To The Telegram:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Superior Police Department for all of the time, energy and patience they have given to the 6th Annual Superior Police Department Citizens' Academy participants.

This year's group consisted of 27 residents of Douglas County. We learned about every facet of the department. To name a few: the department's organizational structure and hiring process, the training the officers receive from firearms to emergency response and crisis training, community education programs, when the use of force is necessary, traffic violations including a ride along, demonstrations of intoximeter breath testing, booking and fingerprinting, evidence collection and investigations, demonstration and information on motor patrol (motorcycle) and mountain bike patrol, Internet crimes, the judicial system, human services and how they all work together, K-9 unit information and demonstration, and more.

Our police officers are well trained in all aspects of their work. They are respectful and professional. I encourage anyone interested in learning more about this program to contact the Superior police department and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

My experience was truly rewarding and the education and awareness far exceeded any of my expectations. Thank you again to the Superior Police Department for this great opportunity.
