To The Telegram:

Recently the Telegram announced that it would no longer publish six days per week. Publication as of Oct. 1, would consist of two papers per week.

Since the announcement, there has been much rhetoric and many suggestions on how the Telegram should conduct the day-to-day operation of the paper. Many people are deeply concerned about the loss of our daily paper. As we should be!

However, it is my understanding the decision was made to publish two days per week because of the lack of advertising revenue. Also, many households in Superior and the surrounding area do not subscribe to the paper.

If we as a community wish to retain six days per week of publication, there are at least three areas that we can assist with:

1. Many more households subscribe to the paper.

2. Businesses spend more of their advertising budget with the Telegram.

3. Businesses that do not, at this time, advertise with the Telegram begin advertising with our local paper.

If we as a community cannot assist in some way to retain a six-day-a-week paper, in other words, "Put our money where our mouth is," then we should applaud the Telegram for finding creative solutions to publish two days per week.

I will continue, as I have done for more than 40 years, subscribe to the Telegram. I am proud to support my hometown paper.
