To The Telegram:

This past Tuesday Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton visited Superior to accomplish two goals. One, deliver technology zone tax credits and two, hold a roundtable discussion with local business leaders. Congratulations to Genesis on receiving the tax credits and for reinvesting in our Superior community and thank you to the Development Association for their hard work in helping Genesis receive these credits.

The Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce was pleased to host the lieutenant governor so she could accomplish her second goal, to meet with area business leaders to listen to their concerns about the business climate and some of the hurdles they face in Superior and Douglas County -- and learn how she and the governor can help them. A few of the topics that were discussed were health care, the gas tax, eco-industrial parks, harbor assistance program, reciprocity programs between Wisconsin and Minnesota, regionalism, and educational funding for both the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and University of Wisconsin system. Any time that our business community has direct contact with our government leaders from Madison is a good day in Superior, especially when they come to Superior, which Lt. Gov. Lawton has done many times.

Because of efforts like Superior Days we have been able to build strong relationships with Gov. Jim Doyle and Lawton and make these meetings possible.

Lt Gov. Lawton: You are always welcome in Superior and please come back soon.
