Regarding Ruth Hendry's letter "Superior needs a non-Christian mayor":

The first amendment gives us the freedom to voice our opinions as you did about wanting a non-Christian mayor, but I completely disagree with your second statement.

Jesus died for our sins over 2000 years ago, but the "Good News" is he rose from the dead to set us free from the bondage and penalty of our sins so we may have eternal life. When Jesus walked this Earth, he was a great teacher, divine healer of the sick, raised the dead, was the ultimate corporate leader and a social revolutionary when he instructed us to love our neighbors and enemies as ourselves. If we accept his sacrifice, he will gladly and graciously forgive our sins that we too may have eternal life.

Ruth, God is love and God never makes a mistake; he created you for a purpose. I pray you let him into your heart this Christmas and receive his grace (unmerited forgiveness) so you can walk in his glorious light.

I too am a Christian and embrace what Paul said in Galations 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ, I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in this body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me."

Ruth -- being a Christian does not make us perfect, far from it, we are all sinners.

Have a blessed Christmas and let God into your heart.

-- Sharon Brown,

Superior
