Here in Wisconsin, we have a senator whose campaign slogan says he is nobody's senator but ours. Unfortunately Gov. Jim Doyle doesn't follow that example.
He is owned by tribal gaming rights, the teachers' union and trial lawyers. While he is controlled by these special interests, he also doesn't believe in fair and honest elections. The will of the people is that voters prove they are who they say they are with a photo I.D., but Doyle has vetoed this legislation three times -- claiming it would disenfranchise the elderly. In my business I visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities. It was easy to fill up 10 pages of a petition with signatures supporting photo I.D. for voting. These seniors are more concerned about their vote being compromised by fraud.
Wisconsin is one of the worst taxed states in the country. Companies with good paying jobs don't want to locate here. U.S. Rep. Mark Green wants to change all of this. He plans to cut taxes and cap government spending, create good paying jobs and fight for the bedrock values Wisconsinites share. We need a governor to lead the state while complementing the will of the people. We need Mark Green for governor.
