I strongly suggest that whoever wrote this editorial should have read the Muslims' Koran before making such widely sweeping statements as "No true deity would sanction killing, mayhem."
Also, try talking to the family of Daniel Pearl, the reporter that had his head severed from his living body by a Muslim who claimed he was acting in the name of his god Allah while engaged in a Jihad (Holy War) and find out how they feel about it.
You mentioned the "crusades" and the killings of thousands, but you failed to mention that the only religion that has carried on the killings since then is the Muslims. The Jews and Christians have killed too, but in defense. As for the "Ten Commandants" that you mentioned, it is true that the Jews, Christians and Muslims all take note of these coming from God, and commonly the Christian faith cites the Sixth Commandent as "Thou Shall Not Kill," but if you know your biblical history, doesn't mean that one must lie down like a dumb sheep to be slaughtered when one's life or family is threatened with imminent harm or death.
As for the Danish newspaper journalists who have chosen to re-publish cartoons of Muhammad while they are under death threats, it seems to me that if they want to continue to have the freedom to write and publish whatever is reasonable and prudent as well as anything they deem newsworthy, they must ignore the Muslims' threats. If they yield to the threats, then they should just hang their heads in shame, fold up their writing material and stay home. In our modern times, Jesus Christ has been depicted in derogatory ways by many newspapers, magazines, movies, and in cartoons too. I don't condone it, and it isn't right by any stretch of the mind. But, I have never read where any Christian church and its people have engaged in threats or killings as reprisals for the offensive material. To my knowledge, the Jews during the modern times have not engaged in violent behavior like the Muslims whenever any aspect of their religion is criticized. However the Jews will fight to the death to protect their families, land and freedom to worship their God whenever anyone threatens to take those freedoms away, and I say God bless them for it.
I say "kudos" to the Danish reporters and publishers who are willing to face threats of harm and death from fanatical Muslims in order to preserve their freedoms to write and publish as they see fit.
