To The Telegram:

I admit to a certain amount of shock reading Friday's story on Lynn Ross' well-kept secret. My reaction was not to Mrs. Ross' decision to keep her mobility a secret, but rather to the decision of the leaders of the Covenant Church to disclose it, by letter, to the entire church congregation.

I was raised in the Covenant Church, and have been a member of various Covenant Churches since I was old enough to join one. Under no circumstances can I understand or reconcile the church leadership's decision to disclose this information. As I understand it, this was done without the knowledge or approval of Mrs. Ross, and that she had not even received a copy of the letter when the other members received it. At the very least, it seems that this should have been disclosed to her first.

I hope that the next letter the church leaders send out is one of apology to Mrs. Ross and the entire congregation for what appears to be an unethical breach of confidence.
