To The Telegram,

The Grinch is coming early to Superior this year in the form of Charter Cable. Happy holidays. You won't get to see the Packers play the Vikings on Dec. 21.

That night, the Green Bay Packers will renew their cross-border rivalry with the Minnesota Vikings. As millions of viewers across America settle in for this primetime match-up which may also be Brett Favre's last game in Lambeau Field, they won't be joined by fans in Superior. That's because Charter doesn't carry the NFL Network and consumers don't have another choice of a cable provider who will carry the game.

If you don't like it, what are you going to do? Change cable providers? Unfortunately, that's not an option. Cable companies know they have a monopoly and they are exploiting it. Believe me, if there was cable competition, they'd find a way to offer us the chance to watch this game.

It's way past time for a change. Cable rates are continually on the rise, customer service is on the decline and consumers are being denied the latest in technological advances. Working together, consumers have the power to bring sky-high cable rates to a halt, increase consumer choice in TV providers and make cable companies improve their customer service by working harder for our business. Football fans and, in fact, all Wisconsin cable customers, deserve nothing less.
