A recent letter to the Telegram used Sen. Barack Obama's contribution to the Imogene McGrath Memorial Library in Lake Nebagamon as a reason to support his candidacy. What the letter did not elaborate on was that his "contribution" to the library was a signed copy of his book that he was asked to donate to our book auction. Many other authors also contributed signed book copies; as far as I know, no other candidates were asked for books.

My mother, the late Imogene McGrath, would be appalled to know her name was being used to support Obama or any other presidential candidate.

My mother loved Lake Nebagamon and loved children. She knew before her death of the possibility of a library being named for her and was pleased. A longtime educator, she would do anything to support the betterment of the children of Lake Nebagamon. She instilled in her children such a love of Lake Nebagamon that they, her grandchildren and great grandchildren have stayed in Lake Nebagamon. How proud she would be that her grandchildren are co-presidents of the library and that her great grandchildren will read books from a library bearing her name.

We support this library with all our hearts. We ask for your support too; but please don't let her name influence your choice of our next president. That is not what this library is all about.
