The Wisconsin Senate, on an 18-14 vote Monday, passed a so-called ''compromise'' budget offered by Gov. Jim Doyle.
Voting yes were 18 Democrats and no Republicans. Voting no were no Democrats and 14 Republicans. Sen. Robert Jauch, D-Poplar, was among Democrats who voted yes.
The Assembly, on a 53-44 vote Monday, rejected the ''compromise'' budget.
Voting no were 51 Republicans and two Democrats. Voting yes was one Republican and 43 Democrats. Area Democrats Frank Boyle, Gary Sherman and Mary Hubler each favored the proposal.
