He was an active member on the Board of the Frederic Co-op, a delegate for the Central Livestock Association, and a member of the Minnesota Beef Association. He could also be found at Hackers Lanes bowling alley in Frederic Thursday nights.
With so many children active in school sports and 4-H, he could always be found at almost every child's event: football, basketball, wrestling, track, cattle judging or cattle showing events. He always made time for his children's activities.
LaVerne was a neighbor who could be counted on for help whenever needed.
Over the last years he and Josette spent time traveling the country, visiting Alaska (his dream trip), Branson, the Grand Canyon, the Rose Bowl Parade, Catalina Island, Niagara Falls, and the Calgary Stampede, along with many other interesting places. He enjoyed seeing new places and making new friends.
The visitation will be today at Edling Funeral Home in St. Croix Falls. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Dominick's in Frederic Tuesday. LaVerne will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Trego.
