Larson crowned Super Rose Bowl champion

The 27th Annual Super Rose Bowl was held on Saturday at Village Lanes. The invitation-only tournament matching the top 36 women bowlers from the SAUSBC Association in a six game scratch competition.

The 27th Annual Super Rose Bowl was held on Saturday at Village Lanes. The invitation-only tournament matching the top 36 women bowlers from the SAUSBC Association in a six game scratch competition.

Brianna Larson came away as this year's champion, winning her second Super Rose Bowl Tournament by outscoring the competition with a 1,294 total. Larson was also the champion in 2005.

Second place went to Barb Hoag with a 1,280 total. She was also a tournament champion in 1996. Joanne Salo, last year's champion, finished in third place with a 1,262 pin total.

Rounding out the top eight were Deb Stewart in fourth with 1,201, Crystal Severin in fifth with 1,190, Ingrid Vendela in sixth with 1,196, Lynn Lach in seventh with 1,179 and Carolyn Jones in eighth with 1,178. Lach was the tournament champion in 2002, while Jones was champion in 1999, 2001 and 2003.

The top eight bowlers received money and prizes. All 36 bowlers received roses and prizes donated by tournament sponsors. The Strike Pot was won by Michelle Schlais, and Hoag had both the highest game and highest series of the tournament. She bowled a 278 game and had a 697 series.
