A Lake Nebagamon man is charged with first-degree child sexual assault for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl.
Eric Lee Jeter Sr., 41, made an initial appearance Monday, July 1, in Douglas County Circuit Court.
According to the criminal complaint, the reported victim told a relative that Jeter put his hand down her pants and kissed her cheek.
Officers with the Superior Police Department were advised the victim’s father confronted Jeter with a knife. When police arrived at the apartment where the incident occurred, Jeter was on top of the victim’s father, as if restraining him, and a knife was found on the couch.
Jeter denied molesting anyone. He told police he was at the apartment with several children, was buzzed, and playing hide-and-seek. He said he later went to bed and the next thing he knew, he woke to a man on top of him with a knife, accusing him of touching his daughter, the complaint states.

The victim’s younger sister, 7, told her mother she had witnessed the event between the victim and Jeter, describing him as acting like he “wanted to marry” the victim and was on top of her.
During a forensic interview, Superior Police Detective Mike Jaszczak learned the incident occurred while the victim was cuddling with Jeter.
Jeter is also facing misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct in an unrelated case.
Cash bond was ordered at$20,000 for the sexual assault charge and $1,000 for the misdemeanor charges. He was ordered to have no contact with the reported victims in both cases or minors in relation to the sexual assault charge.
Jeter’s next court appearance is Wednesday, July 10.
