KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- An elderly Kenosha man has been arrested for allegedly clubbing a legally blind neighbor over the head with a hatchet.

Kenosha police say the 48-year-old victim was talking to neighbors Saturday afternoon when the 74-year-old man asked her, "Do you want to die?"

Authorities say he then hit her twice on the head.

The police report says she suffered two cuts that required 16 staples to close.

When police asked the man why he hit the woman, he allegedly said she deserved it because she was having him evicted.

The Kenosha News says he showed officers a letter stating he had 30 days to vacate the apartment complex for violating terms of his lease.

The victim told police the man had also tried to hit her with a golf club the previous week.
