Judges appoint McMeekin as probate register

Douglas County Circuit Court Judges George Glonek and Kelly Thimm announced the appointment of Jaime McMeekin as the new Register in Probate for Douglas County.

Douglas County Circuit Court Judges George Glonek and Kelly Thimm announced the appointment of Jaime McMeekin as the new Register in Probate for Douglas County.

McMeekin assumed the duties of the position following the retirement of Kathy Reed on March 23. Reed had served as Register in Probate since July 15, 2002.

"While Kathy will be missed by many, I am glad that Judge Glonek and I were able to appoint someone of Jaime's caliber as Kathy's replacement," Thimm said. "Like Kathy, Jaime will be an asset to the local judicial system."

The Register in Probate is responsible for maintaining and monitoring court files pertaining to probate matters, guardianships, mental health commitments, and juvenile delinquency and child protection cases. By statute, judges are granted the authority to appoint the Register in Probate.

"Jaime will be very effective in helping Judge Thimm and me better serve the residents in Douglas County," Glonek said. "She is a very capable and committed individual."

"I am very excited about my new position and any challenges that might lie ahead," McMeekin said. "I appreciate the confidence the judges have in my ability to serve as the next Register in Probate for Douglas County."

McMeekin resides in Superior with her husband, Robert, and their two children.
