John "Jack" Paine, 70, lifelong Superior area resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at his residence.
He was born June 5, 1936, in Superior to Emerson and Dorothy (O'Brien) Paine.
Jack served his country in the United States Marines.
He married his wife, Sally, on May 30, 1958, in Superior and recently celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Jack was in the construction business as a laborer and cement finisher for many years until his retirement in 1998.

While his children were growing up he was active in coaching youth hockey.
His memberships include the Moose Lodge 606, American Legion, Laborers Union, VFW and the Superior Men's Pool League.
He was a big Packers and Brewers fan. He loved his family and dogs. He enjoyed meeting with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Paine.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sally; one daughter, Debbie Paine, Superior; four sons, Steve (Lisa) Paine, Mike Paine, Terry (Sue) Paine and David (Jennifer) Paine, all of Superior; five grandchildren, Amanda, Leah, Paxton, Tanner and Stephanie; his mother, Dorothy Paine, Kingman, Ariz.; two brothers, Tom (Helen) Paine, Kingman, Ariz., and Jerry (Joanne) Paine, Boise, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home and continues until the 12 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Fr. Daniel Dahlberg officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kenny Engelbrektson, Marty MacDonald, Michelle Sharpe, Charlie Sullivan, Dave Cochran and Ed Salo.
