Job center offers help for laid off workers

Many people in Northwest Wisconsin are facing difficult times this winter. The latest unemployment figures from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development show that over 6,200 people in the 10-county region are currently out of work.

Job Center staff is experienced in dealing with lay off situations and can help individuals:

Apply on-line for unemployment benefits, Badger Care Plus, and other types of assistance;

Evaluate skills, job experience, and abilities;

Match skills and experience to new job openings;

Develop resumes and cover letters;

Apply for positions and submit resumes on-line;

Practice interviewing techniques;

Look at potential new career paths; and

Receive guidance on the training and education needed for a new employment direction.
