Imogene (Morisset) McGrath, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hawthorne.

She was born March 3, 1919, to C. J. and Elizabeth (Bennett) Morisset in Superior where the Morisset Family were among the first settlers in 1854.

Imogene was educated in Superior at St. Francis Xavier Grade School, East High School and graduated from the former Superior State Teachers College with a bachelor of education degree.

She was married to the late Richard McGrath on July 2, 1941, and they had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991.

Imogene taught in the Wisconsin School districts of Marshfield, Superior, Solon Springs, and Maple. She retired from teaching in 1981 at Lake Nebagamon School.

She was a longtime active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Lake Nebagamon where she served as sacristan, was a past president of the Altar Society and a Catechism Teacher.

She was also active in community affairs.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Richard McGrath, West Sussex, England; and Thomas (Laurie) McGrath, Poplar; two daughters, Susan (Ray) Enright and Maureen McGrath both in Lake Nebagamon; five grandchildren, Shaun (Crystal) McGrath, Philip McGrath, Andrew (Jacqueline) Saari, Megan (Judd) Kern, Michael (Jennifer) Saari; and great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Saari; also a sister, Philomena (Harold) Kelley, Snyder, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick; twin sons, David and Stephen; and two daughters, Kathleen and Barbara.

Imogene felt she had been blessed by a loving family, her Catholic Faith, and living in the caring community of Lake Nebagamon.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East Fifth St., Superior where a Catholic Scripture Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at noon, Wednesday until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian burial in St, Anthony's Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon.

The Revs. Richard McGrath and Dean Buttrick will concelebrate the Mass.

Burial will be in the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be her five grandchildren along with Ray Enright, her son-in-law.
