A suspicious death on the Red Cliff Indian Reservation was under investigation by Red Cliff Police and the Bayfield County Sheriff's Department this morning.
"It certainly appears to be a homicide at this point," said Bayfield County Sheriff Robert Follis.
He said the victim was a Red Cliff man, but deferred other questions to the tribal police department. Calls to the department were not returned as of Daily Telegram press time.
Steve Pratt, a Duluth News Tribune carrier from Washburn, said he was delivering papers on the reservation at approximately 6:45 this morning when he noticed a sheriff's department car pass him.
Following it, he found police and deputies cordoning off a residential section of Blueberry Road about a mile away from the Isle Vista Casino.

Pratt, a member of the Red Cliff band, said there was a body in the ditch at the site. He believes the victim is one of his relatives.
Follis said law enforcement officers were called to the scene at approximately 5 a.m. this morning.
Deputies were still on the scene at 11 a.m. and were waiting for crime lab technicians from Wausau to arrive.
