PELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. – The 19-year-old hockey player who faces a criminal charge in Moorhead for allegedly sneaking into an underage girl's room to have sex was arrested near Pelican Rapids on Saturday night on charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, the Otter Tail County sheriff said.

Jacob Dittmer, a former Moorhead High School starting goalie who was drafted by the Minnesota Magicians in June, allegedly lost control of his vehicle, went off the road into a ravine, and then walked away from the car and its passenger, Sheriff Brian Schlueter said.

After being found by police he refused to get in the police vehicle or tell officers his name..

Dittmer was not injured, but the passenger sustained minor scrapes, Schlueter said.

The Minnesota Magicians, a junior league hockey team, announced Dittmer was their draft pick just one day before he was criminally charged for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Moorhead.

In that case, Dittmer faces a felony charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. His Clay County trial is set for Sept. 29.
