Halvor Lines, the Superior -based trucking and logistics company, takes pride in its hometown and its employees, showing it last weekend as a sponsor of the Great Northern Classic Rodeo.

The rodeo celebrated its 25th year with various rodeo performances, calf chasing and a watermelon crawl - all at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds.

For the past three years, Halvor Lines has been a presenting sponsor of this well-attended, local event.

"Being a community partner is an important aspect of our business," said Debbie Landry, director of driver services at Halvor Lines. "We're happy to be part of the Great Northern Classic's 25th celebration."

Every year, Halvor Lines brings giveaway items, employment information and even a real truck so rodeo attendees can take a look inside. Visitors are often surprised to see features such as a refrigerator and a 24-inch flat screen with DVR and 100 channels of DIRECTV inside the truck. To Halvor Lines, making trucks more safe and comfortable for drivers is part of the mission to improve the trucking industry.

"We can only attract the best drivers by offering the best amenities and benefits out there," Landry said. "Our drivers' safety, health and happiness mean everything to us."

In addition to the rodeo, Halvor Lines will also have a presence at the Big Iron Classic in Kasson, Minn., which is the largest working class truck show and charity drive in the Midwest today and Saturday. It's an important event for recruiting new drivers and staying active in the trucking community.
