Aubrey Hagen and Ashley Stebner, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Youth Optimists for the Superior Optimists Club in February.

Aubrey plays cello in SHS concert and chamber orchestras. She participates in the school theater program and played the lead in this year's one-act play and landed a role in the spring musical. Outside of school, she is employed and volunteers at Fairlawn Museum, and works at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Aubrey plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Superior to pursue an education with a minor in music.

Ashley participates in DECA at SHS and is a leader and works on layout for the student newspaper, The Spartan Spin. She is involved with the Douglas County Youth Leadership program and volunteers with the Special Olympics and at the Salvation Army. She also works at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Ashley hopes to attend college after high school, but is unsure what her major will be.

The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1000 community service award sponsored by the club.
