The Solon Springs baseball team won 11-1six inning Thursday evening at Birchwood.

The Eagles had 14 hits, including a two-run home by Tyler Long. Kevin Zamzow and Nick Grubbe doubled, singled and knocked in a run each and Tyler LaRose doubled twice, singled and had two RBIs.

Grubbe was also the winning pitcher, allowing three hits with two strikeouts in three innings.

"We swung the bats well early against one of the hardest throwers we seen this season," SSHS coach Nathan Ahlberg said. "Our hitters did a nice job of hitting the ball up the middle, something we've focused on recently.

"Nick had a great all-around game. He's done a great job of pitching within our system, worked quickly, limited walks and changed speeds."
