Gregory Allen Udean, 54, of Superior, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, after a two-year battle with cancer, at home surrounded by his family.

Greg was born in Superior Sept. 16, 1953, the son of Maxine (Kirschbaum) and R. Kenneth Udean.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975.

He married the former Janet McCollum on June 2, 1984.

He owned and operated Crafters Edge Sharpening Service. A naturalist and jack-of-all-trades, he loved his sharpening business and enjoyed being in the woods, hunting and trapping. Greg and Janet also had a hobby farm for more than 10 years, raising sheep, cows and chickens.

Greg is survived by his wife; a daughter, Ashley of Superior; father, Kenneth of Superior; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Kirschbaum of Lewistown, Mont.; a sister, Sandie (Doug) Lemons of Superior; a brother, Brian (Kathy) of Oliver; nieces and nephews, Todd Lemons, Haylee Carlson-Lemons, Tylor and Adam Udean, and Erik and Jessica Fernquist; and two very special children, Ericka Johnson and Donald Udeen Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St. The visitation resumes Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Bethel Lutheran Church in Superior. The Rev. Gary Garnatz will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Veteran's Memorial Park at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post 1091 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 Combined Honor Guard.
