Nonunion city workers in Superior are closer to receiving a 2% bump in pay effective Jan. 1.
The city’s Human Resources Committee gave formal approval the budgeted increase Monday, Nov. 15.
Councilor Jack Sweeney said the wage increase won't change the city’s plan to look at its overall wage plan next year.
Since 2007, the mayor’s salary has increased by the same percentage as nonunion employees annually on the third Tuesday in April. The council adopted the annual increase for the mayor’s salary in 2006.
Councilor Jenny Van Sickle, who is married to Mayor Jim Paine, abstained from the vote.
The council will consider the wage increase at its Dec. 7 meeting.
