Promotions and new firefighters marked a celebration of recent changes at the Superior Fire Department on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Fire Chief Scott Gordon started his career with the Superior Fire Department in 1992 and served as a battalion chief from 2009 to 2019.

Two new battalion chiefs have been added from the ranks. Battalion Chief Camron Vollbrecht joined the department in 2006 and has accepted assignments as an assistant fire inspector and as a point-person for industrial fire calls. He became a motor pump operator in 2014 and was promoted to captain in 2018 before taking on his latest role in September.

Battalion Chief Bob Zimmerman joined the department as a firefighter in 2013 and took on assignments as assistant fire inspector and as a point-person for industrial fire calls. He was promoted to motor pump operator in 2018 and stepped into his latest role Jan. 1.

Two firefighters were recognized for their promotions to motor pump operators. Colton Lorenz joined the department as a firefighter in 2016 and John Melcher joined the department in 2017. Both accepted assignments as assistant fire inspectors.

Six new firefighters were also sworn in during the ceremony at the Government Center.

Austin Elliot, Blake Orton, Kevin Jones, Devin Shaw, David Rosa and Cameron Kalan all joined the department over the last six months.
