The Northwestern High School girls golf team picked up two Heart O' North Conference points with a pair of wins Tuesday at Ladysmith.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 187. Ladysmith carded a 197 and Bloomer finished with a 260.

Lauren Neisinger of Ladysmith was the meet medalist with a 40.

For Northwestern, Heidi Anttila carded a 43 for four conference points, Emily Stauty picked up three points with a 46 and Taylor Prior's 47 was good for two points. The Tigers also got a 51 from Brandi Paulson and 57 from Hayley Botten.

"I'm very impressed with the girls' start to the season," NHS coach Stacy Burfield said. "Going in I wasn't sure what to expect, as practice rounds weren't always consistent. I knew the girls were all capable of shooting low scores, and I'm pleased they were able to put aside nerves and get the job done.

"Heidi's confidence is good for the entire team. In addition, I'm thankful Taylor overcame the stomach flu and was able to compete."

The Tigers' next match was at 9 a.m. today at Cumberland with Barron.
