The Superior High School boys golf team tied for second place at Monday's Cloquet Invitational, which took place at the Cloquet Country Club.
Chisago Lakes won the team title with a score of 310, followed by Superior, 323; Duluth Denfeld, 329; and Cloquet, 338.
Individually for Superior, Rob Mihalek finished in a tie for second place with a round of 76. He did, however, lose the scorecard playoff (lowest score on the No. 1 handicapped hole) to another player and went home with the third-place medal.
Brian Crawford also played well, carding a 78, after starting off two under after six holes.
Other Spartan scores were: Steve Sitek, 84; and Scott Rochon, 85. Superior's non-counting scores were an 86 by Erik Gulbrandson and Noah Gilbertson's 91.

The Spartans play their second round of the Lake Superior Conference schedule at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Enger in Duluth.
"We have a lot of ground to make up in the conference and hope to close the gap between ourselves and the first two teams in the conference (Marshall and Hermantown)," SHS coach Ed Willie said.
