GOLF: Nemadji Women's Golf Invitational begins Wednesday

The Nemadji Women's Golf Invitational will begin on Wednesday. A shotgun start for the 18-hole stroke play event will be held at 8 a.m. Golfers 60 years old and younger will be classified in the regular division, while those over 60 years old will have the option of playing in the senior division if they choose.

A nine-hole event had been planned for the tournament, but due to lack of interest, it was canceled. As a result, only the 18-hole event will be played on Wednesday.

This year's invitational is sponsored by Bud Lite. Bud Lite sponsored the event from 1990 to 1997 and offered its support again this year. Bud Lite is also sponsoring the Nemadji Women's Cup.

In addition, many local businesses sponsor holes and donate prizes to help put on a first class event. A portion of sponsorship money goes to support Junior golf at Nemadji.

After play concludes, a raffle will take place, with prizes including a diamond bracelet, jewelry, gift cards, golf packages and more. There will also be two betting holes with the pot split for winners. Awards and prizes will be given following the completion of play (approximately 1 p.m.).
