Goeden defends IRA title

Donnie Goeden drove the No. 11, Bob Walden-owed Sprint Car to his second consecutive win in the spring visit of the Interstate Racing Association (IRA) Sprint Car 30 lap main event.

Donnie Goeden drove the No. 11, Bob Walden-owed Sprint Car to his second consecutive win in the spring visit of the Interstate Racing Association (IRA) Sprint Car 30 lap main event.

Goeden, the current track record holder for Sprint Cars started from the second row and took the lead early on and "Checked out" on the field surviving a red flag stoppage with two laps remaining to take the win.

A caution flag with two laps remaining helped Greg Chesley to the Midwest Modified feature win. Defending track champion Nick Lavato had shadowwed Chesley for most of the 20-lap event and had just taken the lead when the caution flag appeared.

Chesley was able to power by Lavato for the win in the shootout.

Go Kart winners were Jake The Snake Gondik in the 4 cycle Karts and Jared Georgas in the 2 cycle Karts.

Next Friday the Speedway will present a full six division program.
