George Alholm

George Alholm, 87, Kenosha, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Grand Prairie. Born Jan. 12, 1919, in Maple, Wis., he was the son of the late George and Ida (Hautamaki) Alholm. He was educated in the schools of Maple. On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Elsie M.

George Alholm, 87, Kenosha, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Grand Prairie.

Born Jan. 12, 1919, in Maple, Wis., he was the son of the late George and Ida (Hautamaki) Alholm. He was educated in the schools of Maple.

On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Elsie M. Anderson in Duluth. He was a military veteran and served in Japan in the tank battalion.

He operated and owned the Midway Cafe in Maple. He also worked at Great Northern Railroad and American Motors. He retired from the City of Kenosha as a sanitation worker in 1980.

He was a member of American Legion Post 21 of Kenosha. His hobbies included watching the Packers and baseball games and going to the casino. He was an avid fisherman and once caught a three-foot eel from Pike River. They loved to have family vacations in Maple.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie, Kenosha; two daughters, Peggy (James) Crum, Clintonville, Wis., and Betty (Randolph) Byford, Bristol, Wis.; a son, Robert Alholm, Kenosha; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Alholm in 1966, four brothers, LeRoy, Raymond, Eino and Walter, and a sister, Martha Beck.

Visitation was Dec. 21 at Kenosha Funeral Services, where the funeral service was conducted Dec. 22. Interment was in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
