A sure sign of spring is the annual gardening seminar in Minong.

The eighth annual New Ventures Gardening Seminar, hosted by Northwood School Community Ed in Minong and Spooner Garden Club is set for March 15.

Four inspirational sessions are planned for the all-day seminar at Northwood School, said Community Ed Director Julie Hustvet.

  • "Fertilizing and Watering the Garden" by Jeff Gillman, author of "The Truth about Garden Remedies" and "The Truth about Organic Gardening," and an associate professor in the Department of Horticultural Science, University of Minnesota.
  • "Pest Control in the Garden" by Jeff Gillman.
  • "Growing Fruits in Your Garden" by Brian Smith, fruit specialist, University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
  • "What We've Learned" by Sharon Tarras of Tarras Design, Stone Lake.

The seminar runs 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with registration 8:45-9:30 a.m.
The cost is $13, which includes lunch and snacks.
