TOMAHAWK, Wis. (AP) -- The funeral for a 50-year-old comic actor who had a heart attack while hunting in Wisconsin is set for next weekend.
Tomahawk native Jay Leggett appeared in TV shows including "Ally McBeal," 'In Living Color" and "NYPD Blue" and went on to write, produce and act in several movies.
He died Nov. 23, the opening day of deer season at a family cabin in Tomahawk.
His younger brother, Josh Leggett, told the Daily Herald Media ( http://wdhne.ws/1byMNWY ) it was clear from an early age that he was doing what he loved.
"There's not a lot of people who can say they literally are doing what they love to do, and that profession is not an easy one," he said. "He's never had a 9-to-5 job. His profession he had a great passion for and worked really hard at."

One of Leggett's recent efforts was a 2011 documentary called "To The Hunt," which chronicles the Wisconsin hunting culture as told through scenes at several Lincoln County hunting shacks.
In 2011, Leggett told Daily Herald Media he began to work on the film because he wanted to give viewers an insight into the culture of hunting that is passed down from generation to generation in Tomahawk. He wanted to address stereotypes that hunters are only in the sport because they want to kill a trophy deer.
"I do understand that when you don't come from the culture, the whole idea (of hunting deer) is foreign," Leggett said.
Funeral services are scheduled for Dec. 7 in Tomahawk.
