Gov. Jim Doyle has approved a $25,000 project to seal pavement cracks at the Solon Springs Municipal Airport. The governor's action releases $625 in state funds for the project. The towns of Gordon and Solon Springs and the village of Solon Springs are contributing another $625, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $23,750.

According to Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project involves sealing pavement cracks to prevent further water infiltration, to extend the life of the pavement.

The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2009 and should be completed by summer 2009.

Facilities at the Solon Springs Municipal Airport include a 3,100-foot paved runway. The airport accommodates some 3,000 aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) each year.
