The live, stand-up comedy show previously scheduled at the former Braunvieh Cafe takes place Friday at the Shack Smokehouse and Grille.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward Rod Lundberg, who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells. The disease causes permanent damage to the bones and also affects the kidneys. Lundberg is waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

The two hour show starting at 8 p.m. features local comedians John Peterman, Michael Brew, Jared Vanhooser and Chuck Androsky Jr. Magician Kelvin Saline also performs.

Headlining act is Gerry Grossman, "the human jukebox." Grossman began his career in the 1960s and has performed with REO Speedwagon, Tammy Wynette, the Temptations, the Lovin' Spoonful and Johnny Rivers.

According to Androsky, the event's promoter, Grossman combines comedy, music and audience interaction in his performances.

"It's for a very good cause," Androsky said. "It's definitely a laugh-your-butt-off night. If you want to have a good time ... this is the place to be."

The cost is by donation and reservations are recommended. Call the Shack at 392-3463.
