Forest landowner workshop offers conservation tools

Forest landowners in northwestern Wisconsin can learn conservation strategies for their forestlands in a series of workshops hosted by the Bayfield Regional Conservancy and the Living Forest Cooperative.

Forest landowners in northwestern Wisconsin can learn conservation strategies for their forestlands in a series of workshops hosted by the Bayfield Regional Conservancy and the Living Forest Cooperative.

Financial aid, assistance programs, and the basics of conservation easements, forestland tax reduction and estate planning are covered in the context of long-term land stewardship. Attendees take home a "Forest Landowner Toolkit" listing resources for landowners to use in the long-term conservation of their land.

Workshops are held in Bayfield, Douglas, and Sawyer counties.

The next workshop runs 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday in Poplar.

The workshops are open to the public and there is no charge to attend. RSVP to help with planning. After the May 15 session in Poplar, workshops will be held in, Sawyer County in Hayward at the Sherman and Ruth Weiss Community Library (Meeting Room) on June 26, and Bayfield County in Iron River at Iron River Community Center (Meeting Room) on July 10.

Workshops are from 12:30 pm until 4:30 pm. Light refreshments served.
