Fire destroyed the Namakagon Chief Bar Tuesday. No one was in the building at the time.
The fire was reported by several passers-by at about 3:11 p.m., according to Namakagon Fire Chief Henry Rieckoff. Smoke and fire were coming out of the south end of the building when the first fire engine arrived on the scene. After about half an hour into fighting the fire, the roof collapsed. Firefighters from the Namakagon, Cable, Drummond and Grandview fire departments fought the blaze for six hours. The building, Rieckoff reported, was a total loss.
