Fire destroyed a garage and sparked a grass fire at 7601 Tower Ave. Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported. Battalion Chief Erik Sutton with the Superior Fire Department said the damage estimate for the garage and its contents was $30,000.

The fire was reported at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday. The fire department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded. Fire crews found a two-stall detached garage with heavy smoke and fire visible, Sutton said. Due to the location and a grass fire that started adjacent to the garage, the Town of Superior Volunteer Fire Department was called for mutual aid to supply water with their tender.

Although both fires were extinguished quickly, the garage and its contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
