A fire this afternoon at Dome Petroleum in Superior did minimal damage but will cause the oil storage facility to be closed while officials investigate the cause.
A crew was doing some work between two spheres in the facility when some insulation caught on fire, said Superior Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Edwards.
The fire department received the call at 4:15 p.m. and crews arrived on the scene by 4:17 p.m. They had the fire under control within 30 minutes of arriving on the scene. Edwards said firefighters did have some trouble getting into to the area because of limited access to the spheres.
No one was injured, and minimal damage was done to the facility. There may be some insulation that needs to be replaced, said Edwards, but that is the only known extent of the damages.
Although the tanks are secure, Dome Petroleum will remain closed while they investigate the fire's cause.
