Event honors retiring Superior teaachers

On Monday the Superior school district will recognize 34 district staff members who are retiring or ending their school careers this year.

The 26th annual Salute to Service event will be held at the Superior Middle School. This year, the district will honor the service anniversaries for employees who have worked 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 years and are currently working. The event starts at 3:30 p.m. with the recognition ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

Service recognitions were previously done on the opening day of school, but starting in 2010, both events will be combined.

District staff members retiring or ending their school career this year include: Carol Banker, Jane Bentley, Roberta Bergquist, Gertrud Bergren, Tonia Borgeson, Mary Brown, Sheryl Chambers, Linda Delegan, Arlene Engen, David Engen, Toni Gotelaere, Judith Hack, Marie Haire, Gail Johnson, Linda Johnson, Ed Kelly, Ruth Knudson, Viola LaBounty, Barbara Lahti, Margot Lottig, Peg Lundquist, Nancy Marello, Helen McKay, Jerome Oleyar, Janet Rampier, Judy Rootes, Janet Schroeder, Juanita Smith, Maxine Tanula, Julie Trevillion, Valerie Walker, Rita Wallin, Ron Wallin and Kay Winek. In addition, 79 people will be recognized for their service anniversaries totaling over 1,300 years. The event is free and open to the public.
