Edwin O'Brien, age 97, a longtime resident of the Town of Bennett, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Edwin served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He worked for the Duluth-Superior Transfer Co. from 1928-1945, then as a clerk for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1945-1954, and then as a press operator for Stott Briquette Co. from 1954 until his retirement in 1974.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Solon Springs with Fr. Kinney as celebrant and Pastor Dennis Bergeson as officiant. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at the Hawthorne Cemetery.
